What better way to celebrate the nation's 50th birthday than with some symbols of wealth? The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) launched a series of three commemorative coins as part of SG50 that will be issued on May 28.
The series comprises of a $2 cupro-nickel coin, a $5 silver coin and a $50 gold coin, all of which apparently depicts values and aspirations of Singapore, with engraved images of students and educators of different ages and levels, as well as bearing the Singapore Coat of Arms with the year 2015.
Each coin is pretty legit in their material — the $5 silver proof coin is minted with 1 troy ounce of 999 fine silver while the $50 gold proof coin is minted with a quarter troy ounce of 999.9 fine gold. Both come together with a serialised certificate of authenticity.
Folks can either purchase them individually or in a deluxe set that has each one of the three editions. Those interested can purchase the coins on the Singapore Mint website.
