Aleksander Duric — one of Singapore's most beloved sportsman — retired from a very long and illustrious football career in the S.League last year, but fans should be psyched to know that it won't be the last they heard from him.
Duric made an announcement on his Facebook page about plans on an autobiography, expected to be launched by the end of the year under the international publishing company Marshall Cavendish.
Duric, a Serbian native has indeed lived a colorful life as an athlete prior to his migration to Singapore — he had been a kayaking champion in Yugoslavia in his teens and represented Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1992 Summer Olympics. After a number of stints across Eastern Europe, he came to Singapore and signed up as a professional footballer in the S.League and became an instrumental figure in local football.
He retired at the age of 44, leaving behind 15 memorable years in Singapore football.
