Two homegrown music talents will be taking their tunes to the city of Beijing to as part of the Singapore Tourism Board's (STB) SG50 initiative in a traveling showcase celebrating the nation's contemporary creative talents across various disciplines.
In a collaboration between the Singapore Music Society (SGMUSO) and STB, indie rock outfit Take Two and experimental instrumental trio SA will be playing in various SGMUSO Live Showcases at Beijing from Apr 22 to 26.
Both acts have already gained traction outside Singapore — SA have played in China previously in the Shenzhen Fringe Festival while Take Two have performed in Malaysia, Thailand and Spain.
Other than Beijing STB's Singapore: Inside Out initiative will be taking other creative talents to places such as London and New York from April to December in an effort to broaden the international community's perception of Singapore.
“It is a positive step forward for our Singapore music industry development.," says SGMUSO heads Graham Perkins and Mohamed Shahid. "Artists and bands who see these three cities as a key market for their music, will get an opportunity to further their efforts and continue to build that foundation for their success.”
The society have been conducting a series of open calls for Singaporean musicians to be part of Singapore: Inside Out, where they'll get a chance to play live in London and New York — more information available on the SGMUSO Facebook page.
