![Commemorate 50 years of Singapore's rock music scene in exhibition at The Substation next week]()
The Sing50 concert may have 50 Steinway pianos as well as a bevy of orchestra musicians, rappers and choir singers in a bid to promote homegrown music, but here's something a little more to the ground and truer to the Singaporean independent spirit — So Happy: 50 Years of Singapore Rock.
After months of research, curation and documentation of Singapore's rock music community, the event will be celebrating six decades of the local rock music from the 1960s to the present day.
An exhibition at The Substation Gallery will feature a collection of artefacts including flyers, vinyl records, cassettes and ticket stubs, as well as an exclusive photo gallery featuring images captured by over 40 photographers and interviews with iconic personalities throughout the country's music scene history.
To celebrate the launch of the exhibition, there will also be two nights of gigs featuring some of the best homegrown music talents including Plainsunset, The Pinholes, Rudra and more at The Substation Theatre.
The exhibition will go on from Apr 8 to Apr 17, while the opening night gigs will be happening on Apr 8 and 9 from 8pm onwards each day. More details on the Facebook event page.
