Got a tip? Send it to us at singapore@coconuts.co.  There is a time for silence. The busy stretch of Orchard Road was quiet on Sunday as some establishments went beyond the call for a minute of silence on the day of Lee Kuan Yew's state funeral service. Metro department store closed all five outlets, as did Tangs department store. Ya Kun Kaya Toast closed all 48 outlets for two hours, according to Channel News Asia. Many parts of the transport sector — including Changi Airport and the Port of Singapore — were also to stop work and operations at about 4.30pm.  Prior to the minute of silence, all MRT trains werel pull to a stop at stations and open their doors. Buses scheduled to depart from bus interchanges and terminals were to be held back during the one minute of silence. Passenger Information Displays in the MRT network and bus interchanges showed "One minute of silence for Mr Lee Kuan Yew".   At Changi Airport, there were no landings or take-offs for a short period of time around 4pm. Staff at all three terminals from the various organisations across the airport community were united in observing a minute of silence.   Port workers at container terminals at Brani, Keppel and Tanjong Pagar, along with those working at ferry and cruise terminals at HarbourFront and Marina South Pier, temporarily suspended operations at around 1pm during the Ceremonial Sail Past by two vessels from the Republic of Singapore Navy.
