Trash and litter pile up along queue to pay respects to Lee Kuan Yew As expected when massive crowds assemble in an area, mounds of trash and litter are popping up along the very long line of people queuing up to pay their final respects to the late Lee Kuan Yew as his body lies in state at the Parliament House.  Despite numerous rubbish bins located across the line, rubbish keeps piling up and overflowing onto the streets, prompting cleaning efforts to go into overtime, TODAY reports.  Most of the litter consisted of empty water bottles, plastic wrappers and miscellaneous trash, most of which are dumped on the ground near the overflowing bins.  Cleaners speaking to TODAY reported working around the clock since the start of their shifts, with breaks far and few in between. The situation is exacerbated by the free drinks and snacks distributed to the people in line by various companies and volunteers.  Definitely not what the late Lee had envisioned for a clean and green city.
