Yishun may be getting a super-sleek air-conditioned integrated transport hub by 2019, but for now they'll have to make do with a temporary bus interchange — which residents are not too happy about.

Despite SMRT's preparations for the launch, which saw them engaging with residents, schools and other officials about suggestions and feedback about the temporary bus interchange, it seems that folks are grumbling about the distance they have to walk to reach the interchange, and the distance they have to walk within the interchange.
Now positioned opposite Northpoint Shopping Centre, commuters will have to cross and extra road to get from the MRT station to the interchange. The 27,000-square metre facility (bigger than the old 20,000-square metre interchange) also means that it's a lot more tiring to get from one end to the other.
Channel NewsAsia also reports complaints about the misuse of priority queues, occasional traffic jams at the interchange entrance and the confusing changes to several bus routes.
Yishun residents will just have to grin and bear it for another couple more years as the upcoming development of Northpoint City looks set to dramatically change the landscape for one of Singapore's oldest estates.
