These are the best terrible names for the new Singapore Navy warshipsRecently, the Singapore Navy launched a crowd-sourcing campaign to gather names for its new generation warships.  The poster looked serious enough — a digitally dramatised image of a warship with the tagline, "It doesn't take a genius to name a ship. It takes heart."  The unofficial entries, though, were anything but.  When the contest was first introduced on Facebook, many grabbed the opportunity to showcase their knowledge of first world problems in the comments, completely ruining what was probably supposed to be an inspiring campaign.  In a Marketing Magazine interview, QED Consulting founder Ryan Lim implied the Navy brought it upon itself.  “By openly asking for public opinions on an amplified platform such as Facebook, and that too without much proper guide, it is opening up Pandora’s box. The acronyms and ideas for names emerging ultimately collide with the Navy’s brand image,” said Lim. As of today, there are 566 comments on the post uploaded on March, many of which are — how shall we put it — rather irrelevant. But some are pretty funny: "A ship gets part of its strength from its name, then we shall name is RSS ERP! It will NEVER Break down!""RSS CPF, RSS COE, RSS ERP... All very fierce and scary names""RSS SG50 Shades of Grey""RSS Iron Swine... RSS KKPL... RSS BodohPehKambing""RSS Under Happy""RSS Feed""RSS Shiokness" More where those came from:   (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/all.js#xfbml=1"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk')); Post by Republic of Singapore Navy.
