Taking the fight from Parliament to the residential estates of Aljunied GRC, the ruling government People's Action Party (PAP) has initiated a smear campaign on the opposing Worker's Party (WP) by distributing flyers in various neighbourhoods under the latter's district, urging residents to question and rise against their town council over lapses in accounting and corporate governance.

The flyers are titled 'What You Should Ask WP's Aljunied Hougang Punggol East Town Council', with charts and comparisons between the town councils run by PAP and WP, along with strong insinuations of corruption and improper governance committed by the Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council (AHPETC).
The case in question has been raised in Parliament, where PAP Ministers and various Member of Parliaments have chided AHPETC on an alleged conflict of interest — the Town Council's secretary and general manager are also the main directors and shareholders of the town's managing agent FM Solutions and Services (FMSS). Allegedly, the AHPETC also had given FMSS more money than what is required.
The WP have refused to answer to the queries in Parliament, maintaining that they'll only answer to the residents of their constituency.
The Online Citizen however has pointed out that the alleged hypocrisy practised by PAP activists — flyers of political nature previously distributed by members of the Singapore Democratic Party have landed the opposition party in trouble with the police. Additionally, separate flyers critical of the PAP that were distributed in letter boxes was reportedly in breach of the Sedition Act.
One Aljunied GRC resident however has found the PAP's flyers extremely useful... for making paper trays to discard chicken bones.
