Southeast Asian Film Festival returns in April with solid lineup of regional cinematic work Making its fifth return to the screening halls of Singapore Art Museum at 8Q, the Southeast Asian Film Festival (SAFF) promises yet another vibrant kaleidoscope of emerging cinematic work from around the region starting Apr 10.  Celebrating the spirit of independent filmmaking in Southeast Asia, this year's festival will be featuring films from Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam as well as post-screening discussions by the respective directors and producers.  Already, the film lineup announced for SAFF 2015 is bursting at the seams with highly acclaimed, must-watch flicks.  Oscar-nominated director Joshua Oppenheimer's The Look Of Silence — a follow up film to his darkly stunning The Act Of Killing — continues to focus on the bloody chapter of Indonesian history where over one million alleged communists, ethnic Chinese and intellectuals were massacred following the military coup d'état in 1960.  From Thailand, Kongdej Jaturanrasamee's So Be It is a coming-of-age tale exploring the Buddhist journey of two young boys from vastly different backgrounds in a documentary-fiction hybrid film.  On the local side of things, the festival is hosting the world premiere of Fundamentally Happy, the award-winning play by The Necessary Stage, gets a film adaptation by Singapore independents Tan Bee Thiam and Lei Yan Bin, along with cinematography by regular Wong Kar Wai collaborator Christopher Doyle.  SAFF 2015 takes place on Apr 10 through May 3 — tickets available from Sistic at $10 for each film screening.
