In case you didn't know — train services broke down again in the rush hours yesterday, and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) are mad pissed.
It's been a harrowing nine days for SMRT — who were hit with three troubling incidents last week alone — and it came to a head yesterday when two separate incidents of train disruptions occurred in the morning and evening peak hours.
First, train services from Labrador Park station to Pasir Panjang station on the Circle Line had to be halted due to signal fault, creating a human gridlock at most of the yellow line stations in the morning.
Then the East-West Line were delayed by about 20 minutes during the evening rush hours.
(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/all.js#xfbml=1"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));

Not able to keep silent any longer, LTA issued a very stern letter of warning to SMRT. "...disruptions on the Circle and East-West Lines are the latest in a recent spate of incidents on the SMRT rail network. Commuters have been severely inconvenienced again. This is unacceptable." they wrote.
According to the authority, they've already demanded SMRT to be accountable for the various disruptions while the LTA conducts their own independent investigations.
Immediate remedial actions will be carried out to turn around the situation, with LTA expecting SMRT to fully comply and put in maximum effort and resources.
