As the Toa Payoh vandalism case carries on in court in a prosecution against five teenage boys, two of them were sentenced to 24 months' probation yesterday.
Last year, Chay Nam Shen and Reagan Tan Chang Zhi, both 18, were part of the group who stole cans of spray paint from a lorry in Toa Payoh, trespassed into the rooftops of one of the blocks nearby and proceeded to vandalise a wall (horribly, and without artistic flair) with anti-establishment scrawls such as 'Wake up' and 'SG government can't give us freedom', among other things.
The New Paper reports that the group had trespassed at the same rooftop before the incident, and several other places as well including Marina Bay Suites and a construction site in Jalan Rajah.
As part of their probation sentence, Chay and Tan will have to perform 180 hours of community service, stay indoors from 10pm to 6am and wear an electronic tag for six months.
One of the group — a teen by the name of David William Graaskov — had been placed on 15 months' probation earlier this year. The two other teens — Boaz Koh Wen Jie and Goh Rong Liang have pleaded guilty but have not received their sentence.
