The Singapore Short Film Awards return for its sixth iteration this March, honouring the top movers and shakers in the local short film community.
Organised by The Substation Moving Images, the awards gala will be taking place at indie cinema joint The Projector, showcasing the depth and breadth of local short films and recognising excellence in homegrown filmmaking talent through categories such as Best Director, Best Fiction Film, Best Performance and more.
Festival Director of the Singapore International Film Festival Yuni Hadi will also be bestowed an Honorary Award for her accomplishments and work in forwarding the film scene in Singapore.
Though the actual awards night on March 8 will be by invitation only, folks are more than welcome to attend the week-long screenings at The Projector to catch submitted and nominated short films from March 2 onwards.
In the running for Best Director include Han Fengyu for Last Trip Home, a poignant portrait of a father and son who're Chinese immigrants; and Clare Chong's Stranger By Night, a vignette of a security guard's encounters. More details on the event and screening schedule can be found on the Substation website.
