Local property developer teams up with Samsung to build smart homes in SingaporeEnvisioning the future used to be all about flying cars, space travel and robot servants, but as the days go by, we've come to realise that we still have a long way to go. At least one futuristic concept could be a reality very soon though — one developer here has joined forces with Korean tech giant Samsung to build homes powered and run by artificial intelligence.  Qingjian Realty (South Pacific) Group and Samsung Asia have signed memorandum of understanding yesterday to integrate smart tech into property developments, TODAY reports. The first project under this collaboration could launch as early as next year in the form of an executive condominium in Sembawang. Though the concept of smart homes aren't a new concept (the concept has been around since the '50s), the idea has increasingly become the latest tech trend in recent years in  with companies such as Google, Apple and Samsung jumping in the fray to be the smart home leader. Samsung especially has been digging deep into the Internet Of Things and are working towards a more automated, Tony Stark-like future.  Given the current limits to technology, the initial focus under the collaboration will focus on providing infrastructure for existing technology such as washing machines, vacuum cleaners and lights, operated remotely from mobile devices.  Analysts noted however that such smart homes would likely command a higher price over regular units.  Photo: Samsung TV Facebook page
