Crane topples over at construction site, boom narrowly misses crashing onto house It's made of stuff that would spell disaster, chaos and death, but when a large construction crane toppled on its side yesterday afternoon, no one got injured.  The unmanned crane at the worksite of the upcoming Sant Ritz Condominium off Tai Thong Crescent in Potong Pasir simply fell over without warning, with the crane's boom crashing through the front yard of a semi-detached house nearby, narrowly missing the roof of its front porch. No one was at the house during the incident.  According to various media reports, the crane toppled at about 4.30pm, and construction workers remain befuddled over how it tipped over.  As rescuers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force arrived soon after, they found that nobody was injured during the incident. The whole stretch of Tai Thong Road was cordoned off to traffic to facilitate the recovery of the fallen boom. As the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) instructed all work to be stopped at the site, another crane arrived at night to assist with the removal of its fallen brethren.  Neighbouring residents of the affected house speaking to The New Paper noted how lucky it was that the accident didn't happen during the Chinese New Year celebrations as they noted that there were many people hanging around at the front garden during that period. It was also fortunate that the accident didn't occur during the peak hours as many motorists and pedestrians utilize the road in front of the house as a short cut to Potong Pasir MRT station.  Photo: Tan Chuan-Jin Facebook page
