Pink Dot will once again happen in Singapore, this year on June 13 at the Hong Lim Park Speakers' Corner.
Last year's Pink Dot welcomed about 26,000 people, there to celebrate the "freedom to love" regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.
The achievement was not without challenge — a handful of Christians and Muslims in Singapore championed a "wear white" initiative opposing the LGBT event, which was held on the first night of Ramadhan.
According to a press release, the rally was this year moved the an earlier part of June out of respect for the Islamic holy month.
Here the organisers also enforced its strength, that "despite the social and legal challenges which the LGBT community has faced, Pink Dot's astounding success bears testament to the degree to which its message of love has resonated with Singaporeans, both straight and LGBT".
