The Downtown Line will soon get maintenence depot with the opening the Gali Batu MRT Depot in Woodlands, which is expected to open in the first quarter of 2016.
With a size the equivalent of 38 football fields, the depot was built at the cost of about $410 million and is located along Woodlands Road at the northern-most end of the Downtown Line.
Faults on the Downtown Line will be flagged to the staff at the depot's Operation Control Centre, which serves as a the nerve centre for for the entire line. Controllers will be able to monitor, supervise and control operations, and also have the ability to reset the train system remotely.
