Chinese teen jailed for acts of undue cruelty on 16-year-old housemateThe cruel antics of a teenage Chinese national has landed her with a three month jail sentence after she physically and mentally tortured her 16-year-old roommate.  The New Paper reports that 17-year-old Long Yan had been living together with a couple of roommates from China, and it was in May 2013 that her relationship with a younger roommate soured. It was then when she started inflicting abuse on the younger girl, with Long lashing out at the the girl about the quality of her housework, and even made her strip, take nude pictures threatened to circulate them. In June 2013, when their other roommates had returned to China, Long demanded that the girl perform household chores and found it unsatisfactory. As punishment, the girl was told to boil some water, which Long used to scald to her.  According to a medical report by the National University Hospital, the girl suffered first degree burns, and had at least six scald marks on her shoulders, back and arms.  Last December, Long pleaded guilty to one charge of voluntarily causing hurt and two charges of criminal intimidation. The private school where she was studying has already terminated her student pass.  Despite the obvious acts of unwarranted cruelty, Long has decided to appeal against her sentence.  Photo: Kelly Sikkema via Flickr
