Travelling to and fro the city is a downright bitch during peak hours, but fret not heartland residents — the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced that they'll be expanding their City Direct bus services.
Residents in Marsiling/Woodlands, Pasir Ris, Tampines East/Simei, Yew Tee and Yishun will have soon have more options for their daily commute to and from the central business district during morning and evening peak periods respectively, when five new City Direct Services (CDS) are implemented progressively from the second quarter of 2015, bringing the total number of services to 15.
According to their press release, the two new CDS operating in the northern districts of Marsiling, Woodlands and Yishun will offer three one-way trips on weekday mornings from the housing estates and two return trips from the city in the evenings.
The other three new CDS will operate two one-way trips on weekday mornings towards the city and two return trips in the evenings.
LTA has since called a tender to invite private bus operators to submit their proposals to operate the five new CDS.
