A Malaysian driver thought he could get into Singapore for a firecrackin' good time but the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) had other plans for him.
On Feb 6 at 11.20pm, ICA officers conducted a routine check on a Malaysia-registered car upon arrival at the Tuas Checkpoint and uncovered a cardboard box filled with firecrackers in the car boot.
In total, 24 strips of firecrackers and two small boxes with 18 "Boom" firecrackers each were seized as prohibited items under the Dangerous Fireworks Act.
The 33-year-old man and the items have since been referred to the Singapore Police Force for further investigations. If convicted, he will face a jail term of up to two years and up to six strokes of the cane.
