![Notorious Singaporean paedophile convicted of organising commercial sex tour overseas]()
A wannabe vigilante turned rampant sex-offender has pleaded guilty to 12 charges of underaged sex offences in State Courts last Friday, including arranging a tour to Cambodia to prey on child prostitutes.
31-year-old Chan Chun Hong's infamy was so widely known that the United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had him in their scopes and presented information on him to the Singapore police.
A report on The New Paper alleges that Chan had been remorseless about his activities, boasting about having sex with underage girls in the region.
In court, he admitted to seven counts of distributing child pornography online, three counts of promoting commercial child prostitution overseas and one count each of facilitating commercial sex with a minor outside Singapore and possession of obscene films. Reportedly, Chan is the first here to be convicted of organising a commercial 'sex tour' overseas and distributing information about such vile undertakings.
An undercover operation conducted by police — in which they set up a decoy e-mail account to communicate with Chan — saw him planning a trip to Cambodia to engage in child prostitution. He was arrested at Changi Airport in March last year.
He maintained that he initially researched about child sex abuse in 2009 to establish a relationship with paedophiles in order to have them arrested by the relevant authorities. He soon found himself addicted to child pornography, and was even diagnosed with paedophilia by the Institute of Mental Health.
When police raided his home in Yishun Ring Road, they seized 64 jackets of DVDs, two laptops, three hard disks, thumdrives, 15 pornographic DVDs, condoms, a sex toy and four mobile phones.
The case against him has been adjourned to Feb 16.
