A lot has been said about the clash between the authorities and Thaipusam revellers last week, including Minister Shanmugam's condemn for the unruliness, along with rising concerns about reinstating the occasion as a national public holiday.
The latest development in the incident however sees the wife of one of the three accused of disorderly behaviour claiming that she was the victim of police brutality during the altercation.
According to The New Paper the 30-year-old woman has lodged a police report on Feb 4 about the assault she received during the procession at Desker Road. She claims that she had been hit or pushed by three police officers during the ordeal.

One of the accused, 33-year-old Ramachandra Chandramohan, has also recounted his side of the story on The Real Singapore, refuting media reports that he was drunk and intentionally creating nuisance. His account also outlines the incident where he witnessed his sister-in-law being pushed to the ground by a man, who turned out to be a police officer. Chandramohan currently faces seven charges including behaving in a disorderly manner and voluntarily causing hurt to a police officer.
Together with the two other accused, he is expected to return to court on March 6.
Regarding the report, the police stated that they take a serious view of any allegation against officers and will investigate the case thoroughly. If the allegations are found to be false however, appropriate action will be taken on the accuser.
