Pictures of a freak accident that flipped a grey Toyota sedan headfirst into a drain along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) went viral yesterday, leaving netizens confounded on how it was even possible.
According to The New Paper, it took two tow trucks to remove the car, which encountered the mishap at the Tampines Avenue 5 exit of PIE yesterday at 10.30am.

Other motorists stopped to help the car's driver and passenger out, an elderly Indian couple. They were safely extricated, though witnesses reported that the driver's left wrist was broken. His wife sported slight bruises on her hand and neck. Both were conveyed to Changi General Hospital by an ambulance dispatched by the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
Police are conducting investigations into the accident.
