For his crimes of computer misuse — targeting servers of more than seven organisations — and drug consumption, infamous hacker James Raj Arokiasamy aka The Messiah has been sentenced to 56 months in prison.
Arokiasamy, the man behind the hacks into the servers of Fuji Xerox, Sun Ho, The Straits Times' blog, People's Action Party Community Foundation and the Ang Mo Kio Town Council, pleaded guilty to 39 of the 161 charges made against him, TODAY reports.
According to The New Paper, his actions cost the affected organisations about $1.36 million in repair, while the police spent more than 2,465 man hours alone investigating the cyber attacks.
He committed the offences between March and November 2013, and was living in Kuala Lumpur when he was arrested in November that year. In court last Saturday, he represented himself, having discharged his lawyer M Ravi.
