Safuwan Baharudin was an unused substitute as Melbourne City emerged with a 2-1 victory over the Western Sydney Wanderers. It was the club’s first game since the defender’s arrival on a three-month loan deal.
Playing at home, City came from behind to win thanks to goals from Jacob Melling and Aaron Mooy after Yojiro Takahagi had put the visitors ahead early on. The result keeps City in sixth position, the final qualifying spot for the A-League’s post-season finals series.
Safuwan, assigned squad number 29, will have his next opportunity to play on Feb. 7 in a blockbuster derby clash with Melbourne Victory.
