Joanne Peh and Qi Yuwu, possibly Singapore's most controversial couple right now, are expecting their first child .
The actors sparked something of an outcry two years ago when they announced they were dating — Peh, who'd only just broken up with her long-term radio deejay boyfriend Bobby Tonelli, was even accused of being Qi's beard.
Qi had before that been romantically linked with men, one of whom is an award-winning Channel 8 actor.
The couple quashed all rumours when they married in a low-profile wedding last September.
Yesterday (Jan. 29), they released a statement through Peh's manager that read, "We are delighted to share that Joanne Peh and Qi Yuwu are expecting their first baby. They thank their well-wishers and fans for their care and concern."
Peh, who's three months pregnant, said in the release she was "in good health" and that they were both looking "forward to welcoming the new addition to (their) family".
Filmmaker Daniel Yun, who recently made period movie 1965 with both Peh and Qi, told The New Paper he thinks the couple wants "many children".
The movie celebrating Singapore's jubilee year is slated for a July release.
