Something strange is going on in this region.
The Hong Kong police are currently looking for a 12-year-old girl suspected to have stolen a USD4.6million diamond necklace at a jewellery store in Tsim Tsa Tsui on Friday.
She'd enterered the shop with two men and a woman, who distracted staff by asking to see some jewellery while she carried out the deed.
Yesterday (Jan. 25), the Shin Min Daily News that a diamond ornament worth several hundred thousand dollars that went missing from the Bvlgari store in Marina Bay Sands last Christmas was stolen by a young girl, who looked to be about 10 years old.
CCTV footage shows she entered with a man and a woman, and they acted like family.
The camera caught the girl kneeling in front of the case appearing to reach for something, while the couple was talking to the staff, according to The Straits Times (ST). Police were called in at 11:08pm on Christmas night.
While investigations for this incident contine, may we shift your focus to yet another heist, also believed to be the work of a girl about the same age.
This time round, the theft occurred a few months before the Marina Bay Sands incident on Jan. 16, and a $1.9 million yellow diamond ring went missing, said ST.
