Continuing their long, seemingly ending series of unwarranted savagery, the extremist group Islamic State (IS) has slain yet another hostage.
Two Japanese nationals were the latest captives in the group's ongoing hostage detainment, with the extremists demanding a US$200 million ransom for their release. Yesterday, a video was posted online, showing a still image of hostage Kenji Goto holding up a photograph of fellow captive Haruna Yukawa's slain body.
While the Japanese authorities are working on efforts to assure the safe release of Goto, Singapore has condemned the killing carried out by the IS.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) issued a statement yesterday strongly condemning their terrorist acts and continued brutality, while also extending condolences to Yukawa's family. The ministry has also reiterated their calls for IS to release Goto and other hostages immediately.
