![Oh Shit: Sewer pipe bursts at another new flat, this time at Yishun]()
Residents of the newly built Orchard Spring HDB estate at Yishun received a road shock earlier this week when a sewage pipe burst, unleashing all hell upon the void deck near a lift lobby. It's a bizarrely similar case that took place at a Compassvale BTO flat last November.
A resident of Block 430A along Yishun Avenue 11 made the case known to The New Paper, noticing that a plastic pipe at the ceiling had broke open, leaking sewage and human waste — generally leaving an unhygienic and foul-smelling mess at the foot of the block.
Though the burst pipe has been fixed since, workers speaking to the paper have remarked that the task hasn't been easy; some residents continued to use their toilets despite being told not to do so while the repairs were being carried out. The workers had been busy washing down the lift lobby three times in the past two days as sewage continued to pour out before the hole could be patched up.
Water services have remained largely unaffected as the affected pipe's function was to carry waste and sewage from the apartments above to a central sewage system.
