A 40-year-old transvestite was sentenced to 33 months in jail yesterday (Jan. 8) for having sex with a teenage boy, and not telling him he has HIV before they had sex.
Altogether seven charges were considered during the sentencing.
The cross-dressing man had befriended the boy and his friends at around 6am on National Day last year, according to The New Paper (TNP), and had asked them to add him as a friend on Facebook. His account name was that of a woman.
He then invited the group to his flat in the northern part of Singapore, but needed to check if his roommate was around first, so he asked the 15-year-old boy, who's believed to have borderline IQ (between 70 and 85), to keep him company.
After some persuasion from his friends, the boy proceeded to follow the man to the 23rd-floor flat.
When their friend didn't appear after some time, his friends got worried and decided to look for him at the block. They saw his slippers outside the man's unit, but were turned away by his roommate.
TNP reports that at about 7am, the man lured the boy out of the flat to a staircase landing, where they performed oral and anal sex.
When the friends returned to the flat to enquire about the the boy with the help of a 27-year-old female neighbour, the duo had gone.
The boy eventually appeared at the void deck, followed by the man and his roommate. The female neighbour confronted the man, then called the police when he and the roommate began arguing.
The man could've been jailed up to 10 years plus fined for each count of having sex with the underage boy, and each count of not informing the youngster about his medical condition before sex (under the Infectious Diseases Act).
