![Ship collision causes oil spillage incident off Pedra Branca]()
Crude oil spilled into the waters off Singapore's coast in the morning today when two ships collided 11 nautical miles north-east of Pedra Branca.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore reported that a Libyan-registered oil tanker Alyarmouk had collided with Sinar Kapuas, a Singapore-registered bulk carrier at 6am today. One of the Alyarmouk's cargo tanks sustained damage from the crash, spilling crude oil onto the ocean.
Oil spill response team and resources were deployed to contain the incident. The Malaysian and Indonesian authorities were notified as part of the standard operating procedures for joint oil spill combat.
Both vessels have been safely anchored and are in stable condition. No injuries were reported from the accident.
