Chiara Natasha is awaiting news on her parents and two brothers, who'd been on ill-fated AirAsia flight QZ8501 flying to Singapore from Surabaya.
Her family was flying in to celebrate Christmas with the 15-year-old Methodist Girls' School student, who is currently being accompanied by her uncle Mr. Rambang Darnoprojo and his wife, according to The New Paper (TNP).
Said Mr. Rambang, "She's fully aware of the situation, but she is being brave as she faces it.
The businessman also said that he'd be her guardian, taking "care of all her needs from this point onwards until she grows up", and that Chiara will return to school for the new term.
16 bodies have been recovered so far from the crash site in the Java Sea, about a week after air traffic control lost contact with the AirbusA320-200.
Like Chiara, Mr. Rambang is accepting of fate, but remains hopeful. "Yes, they have found bodies, but we don't know who they are for now. We remain positive and hopeful for their safe return... hopefully, alive. There is still a chance," he told TNP.
