The man was just doing his job as a security guard — stopping a drunken individual from taking a piss at a shopping centre stairwell.
Unfortunately , 74-year-old Zhou was punched to the ground for his act of righteousness earlier in November at Fajar Shopping Centre. Sustaining head injuries from the fall and going into a coma soon after, he succumbed to his wounds after a month in hospital. Shin Min Daily News reported that he died last week on Dec 22.
Reportedly, the perpetrator — a 51-year-old man who worked at a food stall nearby — had only been working at there for a month. Zhou was responding to a complaint from a member of the public about a drunk man urinating at the first floor stairwell of the shopping centre when the incident took place.
The man was detained on Dec 18 and was charged in court on Dec 20.
