Commuters have incessantly complained about the lack of quality service in train services and now, they have the statistics to back their grouses.
According to the latest report on train service delays and withdrawals by the Land Transport Authority, the number of disruptions to the transport service has hit a new high. TODAY reports that the dozen incident in the first nine months this year already surpasses the previous high of 11 incidents in 2011, the worst year in MRT breakdowns.
Various disruptions ranged in severity, with notable ones including the three major ones that affected the North-South and East West Lines in January alone. Between January and September, there were 36 delays lasting more than 10 minutes while 266 delays lasted more than five minutes. The relatively new Downtown Line experienced 19 delays already from January to March this year.
