Three members of the public were commended for their public-spiritness in a ceremony held at the Central Police Division last week.
Dr. Jacqueline Yam Pei Fan, Mr. Mohamed Nazir S/O Abdul Rahman and Mr. Wilson Benedict Lim had assisted police in arresting the 39-year-old man who'd committed a case of armed robbery with hurt at Raffles Place on Nov. 14.
Cash amounting to $800,000 was recovered from the suspect after the high-profile arrest, which was witnessed by tens of people that were in the busy Central Business District area.
On Nov. 15, the suspect was charged in court for armed robbery, which carries a jail term of up to 14 years and no less than 12 strokes of the cane. Mr. Nazir and Mr. Lim had alerted the police and assisted in detaining the suspect along Chulia Street, which Dr. Yam provided medical assistance to the victim, who'd been stabbed.
