![Scam Alert: Police warn of 'Changi Airport', 'Singapore Airlines' phone calls asking for passport details]()
Police announced yesterday that scammers are currently at work, calling victims to inform them that they've won return air tickets to Japan or Paris from Changi Airport or Singapore Airlines.
The callers would say that the victims have won a contest held by the two organisations, and would request for personal information such as passport details, to "process the winnings".
According to the authorities, the Changi Airport Group (CAG) has clarified that the calls are not authentic, and that winners of contests they organise will be notified with the following procedure: a telephone call and an email, followed by an official letter for acknowledgement.
Anyone in doubt can call Changi Airport's Customer Hotline at 6595-6868 for verification.
Police advise the public to practise crime prevention measures when dealing with issues like this, including not disclosing personal particulars such as name, NRIC number, passport number, residential address and contact details to unknown individuals, and lodging a report via the Electronic Police Centre upon receiving suspicious calls.
