Police have arrested three suspects, aged between 16 and 18, for suspected involvement in loanshark harassment.
On Dec. 9 at about 4pm, the authorities received a call for assistance from Yishun Street 22. Officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted a search in the area and found the three suspects, who upon closer inspection were found to be in possession of loanshark paraphernalia such as paint, markers and debtor addresses.
Police believe the trio has committed multiple cases of harassment in Yishun Street 22 and Avenue 6, splashing paint on debtors' units and scrawling graffiti on their walls.
The suspects are expected to be charged in court today for loanshark harassment under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010). First-time offenders found guilty of the crime face a minimum $5,000 fine, jail up to five years and not more than six strokes of the cane.
