When 31-year-old bank executive Xu bought a bottle of herbal tea for $1.20 from a shop in Tampines, he didn't think much of it.
At 4pm that day he opened the bottle and drank a few sips. Noticing that it tasted off, he peered into the bottle.
What he saw: a cockroach floating in the tea and upon closer inspection, at least 20 cockroach eggs, according to Lianhe Wanbao.
The local Chinese daily says he threw up five times after that and had to down four litres of water to cleanse his system.
