Singapore Airlines trying to recover loss from selling business class tickets at economy pricesPhoto: Travellers hoping to fly Singapore Airlines' Business Class on the cheap have had their hopes dashed now that SIA is reclaiming the fare difference; Facebook Due to a computer error, about 900 Business Class tickets on Singapore Airlines (SIA) were sold at Economy Class rates last weekend, according to News.com.au. Online travel agents in Australia reportedly sold the more spacious seats for about $3,800 each when it should've cost more than $6,000, for flights between Singapore and various destinations in Europe.  The error was the airline's own fault — it had "recently reassigned a booking subclass originally designated to economy class bookings to be used for business class bookings from December 8, 2014" on the global distribution system (GDS) used by international travel agents, according to a SIA spokeswoman speaking to the news network.  Now SIA is working with the affected travel agents to recoup the difference in airfares. It has requested that agents contact their customers to offer alternative options such as paying the difference to the lowest Business Class fare, travelling in Economy on the booked ticket or getting a full refund.  Agents who're unable to regain the difference in airfares reportedly will have to cough up the money themselves.
