Abusive ex-childcare teacher sentenced to three weeks imprisonmentIt's every parent's worst nightmare — seeing your child physically abused by the very people you entrust for his or her welfare and safety. That's exactly what happened last year in July at the Toa Payoh branch of NTUC's My First Skool childcare centre, where 52-year-old Siti Hadijah Mohamed Sin took out her frustrations on a two-year-old boy under her tutelage to the point where it fracture his left shin.  Yesterday, she was sentenced to three weeks in jail for her offence, according to Straits Times. Folks will remember seeing the heartbreaking CCTV footage of the abuse that went viral online on Facebook last year. In it, Siti Hadijah can be seen handling the child roughly, slamming him to the ground twice at the corner of the classroom. After which, the boy was told to stand up, only to stumble and fall due to the fracture inflicted from the teacher's mishandling.   What makes it more heart-rending though is the reaction of the boy's parents reaction to the CCTV footage. In the background, both parents can be heard escalating in anger and frustration before finally breaking down tears at seeing their child limping from the abuse.  A medical report revealed that he was diagnosed with a toddler's fracture due to twisting force applied to the lower leg.  Straits Times report that the defence counsel maintained that Siti Hadijah had been under a great amount of stress at the time, which was amplified by the boy's hyperactivity and short attention span.  She has since been fired by the childcare centre, and could have been jailed for up to four years and a fine not exceeding $4,000.  Photo: YouTube video screengrab
