![New travel fair not challenging NATAS', but held at same time]()
Say whut?
The travel agencies that have pulled out of the upcoming National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) fair at the Singapore Expo to organise their own event say the move was not meant to challenge NATAS, TODAY reports.
This despite planning for the Outbound Travel Fair to happen the same time as the association's signature event (pictured) on March 27 — 29.
The organising committee made up of 24 travel agencies including major players like Chan Brothers Travel and Dynasty Travel, is also offering lower booth costs to exhibitors, a more central venue at Marina Bay Sands, as well as free admission — all of which sound like a clear rebellion against NATAS' operations.
It was these, plus other issues such as their disapproval of operators brought in by overseas tourism boards, that brought about the discontent in the first place. And when a petition was submitted, NATAS' reply was tardy and unfavourable.
