It was a disappointing match for both players and fans yesterday at Jalan Besar Stadium when Malaysia went head to head with Myanmar in the ASEAN Football Championship, where both teams had to settled for a goalless draw.
Both teams could not push past each other in the first half, which probably fueled the recklessness from the Malayan Tigers — midfielder Gary Steven Robbat earned two yellow cards for his serious challenges to the opposing team, sending him off pitch and reducing the team down to 10 men. Even with the reduced manpower, the Myanmar team’s luck did not change for the better as the match ended in a stalemate by full time.
Despite the disheartening match, it was the Myanmar fans that shone in the spotlight for their considerate conduct rarely seen in Singapore — a Stomp user observed that they went around cleaning and collecting all the rubbish left by the crowds at Jalan Besar Stadium.
