Bicycle theft is such a common occurrence in Singapore that it has effectively compelled the Singapore Police Force to launch an anti-bicycle theft campaign to lock down the rampant issue.
Yesterday, the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) launched the first ever online database system to track bicycle ownership and screen if a registered bicycle is marked missing or stolen.
In collaboration with the Singapore Police Force, NCPC unveiled three initiatives that should clamp down on bicycle theft including newly designed ‘Lock Lah’ bicycle racks, the aforementioned online database and customised bicycle bay signages.
Bicycle owners are encouraged to register their bicycle security labels online. Those without security labels are able to collect them from any Neighbourhood Police Centres.
