Blue Diamond Restaurant director charged for false declaration of foreign employee salariesThe director of Blue Diamond Restaurant in Buffalo Road, Abdul Hameed Mohamed Farook, was charged today by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) for falsely declaring the salaries of 12 foreign employees.  According to TODAY, the 55-year-old had told MOM he would pay the 12 employees from India — whom he'd intended for positions like cooks, chefs and managers — monthly salaries between $2,800 and $4,500.  He'd made these declarations while submitting applications for the issue and renewal of the S Pass and Employment Pass for these employees between November 2012 and May this year.   Based on these claims, the relevant documents were approved and passes issued by MOM.  If convicted, Abdul, who closed the restaurant in September citing "labour problems" as the reason, may face a fine of no more than $20,000 or up to two years in jail, or both.
