Four of the biggest players in the local travel industry have announced they won't be participating in the next fair organised by the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS), according to TODAY.
Chan Brothers Travel, CTC Travel, Dynasty Travel and SA Tours are reportedly even planning their own event, slated for the same dates as the NATAS trade show on March 27 — 29, and are trying to get other participants to join them.
The Singapore daily says the boycott was caused by a disagreement over the entrance fees NATAS charges the public, which have increased from $1 to $4 over the past few years, and how NATAS is handling the proceeds. They'd also allegedly been trying to negotiate a discount on their own participation fees.
The NATAS fair occurs twice-yearly and has recently staked the Singapore Expo as its main venue. It attracts over 100 corporate exhibitors and tens of thousands of visitors — both industry players and consumers — each time.
