Uber and Spotify announce integrated playlists in Singapore, against the oddsStarting Nov. 21, Uber users in Singapore and 10 other cities including London, New York and Sydney, will get to sync their Spotify Premium account to their car ride via either app.  The partnership, announced here this morning, reinforces Spotify's campaign to follow their users everywhere they go — so far the music streaming service has also inked deals with Ford, Volvo and more recently, BMW. Integrating their playlists with car rides in Singapore is a sweet next move for them then. For Uber on the other hand, it's a bit of an awkward time.  The luxury car service, on top of having to welcome fresh and raring-to-go competitors like GrabTaxi and Hailo since its launch in Singapore, hasn't been in the media's good books since it started giving out free rides as a publicity and marketing stunt, which has questioned not just its reliability, but also its treatment of its drivers. Further, Uber is standing in the middle of a backlash campaign in the United States, where a senior executive has made comments confirming the company's lack of concern for women and passenger safety. According to Buzzfeed News, Uber was already fighting bad press when Emil Michael suggested a team of opposition researchers be set up to dig up dirt about journalists that criticise the company, particularly PandoDaily's Sarah Lacy. Michael had made the comments recently at a high-profile dinner at the Manhattan's Waverly Inn, which he'd thought to be an off-the-record event.   Whether or not Uber's reputation will make an impact on its business in Singapore, where the people have become increasingly vocal on issues of morality, is unclear.  But for now, the party doesn't have to stop for music-loving city slickers, even if Taylor Swift isn't part of the mix.
