Central Narcotics Bureau’s latest operations managed to net a hefty haul of drugs — including heroin, cannabis and meth — worth more than $200,00.
The two separate operations took place yesterday; one in the Clementi neighbourhood and the other in the vicinity of Tampines.
The operation in Clementi saw officers stalking a male suspect riding a Malaysia-registered motorcycle. The 28-year-old Malaysian man was seen delivering a suspicious looking plastic bag to a flat on the 17th storey of a housing block. He was arrested when he returned to the ground floor without the package.
At the same time, another party of CNB officers entered the unit at the 17th storey and arrested a 42-year-old Singaporean woman who was attempting to flush drugs down the toilet. Reportedly, a total of 1,280 grams of heroin, 1,034 grams of cannabis, 95 grams of meth and a single Erimin-5 tablet was recovered.
Later in the afternoon, two male Malaysians suspected to be involved in the same drug trafficking syndicate were arrested when they made an attempt to leave Singapore.
Over in the east side, a troop of officers from CNB and the police force apprehended a suspected drug trafficker before being escorted to his suspected hideout located at a block along Tampines Street 81.
A search on both the 42-year old man and his hideout uncovered 616 grams of heroin and 103 grams of meth, along with various drug trafficking apparatus including weighing scales and makeshift smoking pipes.
Due to the large amount of drugs seized from all suspects, they may all face the death penalty upon conviction. Investigations are still ongoing.
