Art Stage back in January next year at Marina Bay SandsThe region’s biggest art fair is back for its fifth edition. Art Stage Singapore 2015 takes place at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre from Jan. 22 to 25, featuring 130 galleries from 29 countries. Continuing with its focus on works from Asian artists, 93 of the participating galleries are based in Asia. The fair’s museum-style Southeast Asian Platform is also returning to showcase the works of 15 artists from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The 1,000 sqm exhibit carries the theme “Eagles Fly, Sheep Flock: Biographical Imprints – Artistic Practices in Southeast Asia”. The Russia, Video and Modern Platforms are also making their debuts at the event, further broadening its scope in areas that are gaining popularity with collectors. Public programmes have always been a feature on the Art Stage Singapore calendar, and in 2015, the event has tied up with ARTnews to present a series of talks. Platform tours, panel discussions and other activities will also be taking place. An international cast of artists will be attending the event including collaborative duo Gilbert & George and Hiroshi Senju, who’s famous for his paintings of waterfalls.
