The police put an end to a 57-year-old man’s crime spree two days ago when he was arrested for suspected involvement in a series of theft cases.
The man was involved in bizarre case of daylight robbery when he befriended a 78-year-old man at a coffeeshop at Taman Jurong. After requesting to look at the elder man’s ring, the suspect removed it from the victim’s finger… and simply walked away.
Officers from Jurong Police Division worked together with their counterparts in Clementi Police Division and successfully established the suspect’s identity. Investigations had revealed that he may be involved in several other theft cases.
He will be charged today for using criminal force to commit theft. If found guilty, he will be imprisoned for up to seven years and will be liable to caning.
