Two ladies aged 37 and 51 respectively have been arrested for suspected involvement in a series of theft cases across Singapore.
The first case occurred in August at a market in Jurong East, where a victim discovered her bag slashed and her purse missing, losing $800 in cash. Six other related cases were reported, also taking place at markets in Yishun, Clementi and Jurong East.
After intensive ground enquiries conducted by officers from Clementi Police Division, Ang Mo Kio Police Division and Police Transcom, they were able to establish the identities of the two suspects and arrested them on Oct. 29 near Woodlands Centre Road. Earlier investigations had revealed that they could be involved in other theft cases island wide.
The two suspects will be charged in court today for the offence of Theft with Common Intention, which carries a jail term of up to three years and/or a fine.
